ABCs of Thanksgiving

W is for Welcome. Welcome to the site. Welcome to recovery. We have freedom of choice. We can choose to live or die. The 12 Steps put me on the road to recovery and along the way, I was welcomed by a lot of new friends. They told me to keep coming back. I learned that I had to keep coming to the meetings, keep working the steps and applying them to my life, keep practicing the principles in all my affairs, or will end up going back out and if I am lucky enough, I can come back and will be welcomed again. I didn't want to play Russian Roulette with my life. If I wanted to live, I had to keep coming. Using was not an option. For me to use is to die. I am very grateful for the people who welcomed me back into the rooms and gave me a hug. I generally ask, "Do you do hugs?" I was told that I was only half a handshake.
