Topic of the Week, words that begin with "T"

T is for Trust. Trust God and He will see you through any and all situations in your life. When we doubt ourselves, we are doubting Him/Her. Trust His Good Orderly Direction, it is there for the asking.

T is for Take

Take down those brick from the wall around you; you will be able to see the daylight better. Let people know who you are.

T is for Take

Tale time to smell the roses, as the old saying goes. What I mean is that there is so much in life to be grateful for if we only stop and notice them. Your sobriety, a sunset, a sunrise, a smile from someone, the cup of coffee you are drinking right now, friends, loved ones, the computer, house, food, clothes, job, music, .... the list can go on and on. Stop and smell the roses...smile and be grateful!

T is for Try. All we are asked to do is try to do our best, nothing more, nothing less. The last letter of JusT foR TodaY, spell TRY.

T is for Try

Try to turn your life and your will over to your Higher Power

T is for Touch. Keep in touch with your Higher Power, sponsor and other members of your fellowship. This is a WE program, without you, there is no me.

T is for Trigger

Watch for triggers to drink/use that may come up that can cause a relapse. When you recognize a trigger, use the tools of recovery that you have learned to get past it. Don't forget to call someone for help get through a rough time. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

T is for Topic. In early recovery, I had to stay away from speaker meetings because I compared instead of identifying. I found myself saying, "I didn't do that, maybe I am not an alcoholic." I went to lots and lots of topic discussion meetings. You can close your mind to one person talking, but when you hear several people sharing, there is bound to be something that will sink in. I found myself in the rooms of recovery by listening to other people share their experience, strength, and hope.

T is for Trust. You can't have a relationship without it. Build a relationship with your God, your sponsor, your group members, your family and friends. But most of all, build a relationship with yourself.

Trust God and clean house.

T is for Tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes. If you are waiting for tomorrow, you are procrastinating. If I live in today, work my program, I have hope for a better tomorrow.

T is for Try. Try to be the best you that you can be in today. All we are asked to do is to try to life to the best of our ability. Some days we fall short of our expectations, best we put them aside and find some acceptance of what is in today. The last letter on "JusT foR TodaY, spells try.

T is for Treasures. Many of us have things as a result of being clean and sober. What we treasure the most is our sobriety. Sobriety means soundness of mind, and as they say, "...with this we are well on our way."

T is for Task. Take yourself to task to see if you have skimmed over some of the Steps. Have you been truly honest with yourself? Have you been open with your sponsor? Recovery works if you work for it. We are only as sick as our secrets. They will keep us in our disease and give it an outlet to go back out and use.

T is for Telephone. The telephone is a recovery tool. Get telephone numbers from other members and call them, in the good times and in the not so good times.

Giving a call to someone can help them as much as you. If someone comes to mind, I try to make an effort to connect with the person. Above all else, I say a prayer for them.
