Topic of the week, words beginning with the letter "Z"

Z is for Zip. Zip up your lip and don't carry gossip. If you didn't hear it directly from the person who is saying it, it isn't necessarily true, and even if it is true, it isn't my job to pass it on.

Z is for Zion. There is a hymn that says, "We are marching to Zion, that beautiful city of God. We are on a journey, it is not a destination and there is no finish line until we reach Zion, it is a living program.

See music section for the words.

Z is for ZZZZZZZZ

Part of taking care of yourself in recovery is to get enough sleep. Don't be afraid to tell your doctor if you are not sleeping properly. I used sleep aids for the first two years of my recovery journey. My mind would not shut down. After a period of time with the doctors help, I weaned myself off the pills.

Z is for Zig. I got my Zig to go with my Zag, when I was able to let go of all the burdens of my past. When I was no longer carrying all that baggage, I had freedom of movement and found the freedom of living in today.

Z is for Zero. When our score card read zero, we found our way to AA. Don't ask yourself, "How low can I go," stop playing Russian Roulette with your life, and take yourself to the doors of recovery.

Before I went into treatment, my score card was like the temperature outside...Below Zero. Thankfully I took myself to the doors of recovery and choose life instead of death!

Z is for Zoom. Zoom into the gifts of recovery. Patience, tolerance, freedom, happiness, joy, and many more. All you have to do is take the 12 Steps to achieve them, although they say, "We will be amazed before we are half way through the Steps. We will know a new freedom and a new happiness." That is why I kept coming back.

Z is for Zip

When you go to an AA meeting, Zip your lips and open your ears (and your heart and mind) and you will learn to live the sober life.

Z is for Zest. Do you have a zest for living? Do you put your all into each day? The program is applicable to all areas of our life. If you aren't enjoying recovery, what are you doing wrong?

Z is Zoo. Sometimes my head is like a Zoo. A lot of weird noises going on and not at all peaceful. I love animals, but sometimes there can be too many, especially if they are the human kind.

Z is for Zero. My life was a whole lot of nothingness. I had to fill up my life with spiritual things. For so many years, I looked outside of myself for thing to make me happy. Now that happiness comes from a well within and all I have to do is tap into it.

Z is for Zest. Put some zest into your life. Get active. Isolation is part of your disease. What makes you happy?

Z is for Zion. Another word for my God, it doesn't matter what you call Him/Her, know that He/She will answer. When I look at these mountains, I am reminded of His Power and will give Him/Her the glory and gratitude for being clean and sober in today. Some may question why I say Her, but I think of my God's TLC, it has been my experience that for the most part, it came from a woman. Who ever heard of a man asking for direction? My God is as He reveals Himself in today.

Z is for Zeal. Put some zip in your step. Enjoy your recovery. We do this one day at a time. Make the most out of that day.

Z is for Zero. When I came into recovery, it was stop the world I want to get off. As it says in the AA literature, "When our score card read zero, we went to AA." I don't think I was keeping track, I found myself saying, "Am I really that bad?" The answer was, "Yes!"

The people in the rooms loved me back to good health. I went from 0 to feeling 100%.
